Nullarbor and Back
What a long, strange trip it's been. Driving from Perth to Adelaide (taking into account certain dweeb's side trips) took 6 1/2 days versus the 3 1/2 all the way from Sydney to Perth by train.

Here's me, Ellemarie (of Ireland) and cutie Mark (of UK) at -- I'm not making this up -- the Tingle All Over hostel on the southwest peninsula of WA. This was in the beginning before the arguing set in and John (thankfully NOT pictured) turned into a psycho like in The Talented Mr. Ripley except he's waaay ugly and Matt Damon's hot.

Ahhh, the source of my frustration! Of course, he didn't want his pic taken so I got a goofy face. Yes, Mark knows he looks like hottie Vin Diesel. I still think the shaved head was deliberate to impress the girls.

The beach really looks like this in Esperance ... and if it had been just a little colder, it woulda been snowing. Out across that sea is Antarctica.

Crossing the Nullarbor Plain this is the typical view. Actually quite pretty ... there's just too much of it and hardly any truckstops or hostels.

When we spotted this, it got a good laugh. John pulled over so I could get a shot and Mark growled, "See, it's just like bloody America in that way." And I said, "Yeah I know, that's what's so cool about Oz!" This was on the Erie Peninsula when we were less than a 1,000 kilometers from Adelaide. It's a giant galah bird and, yes it's eyes glow red.

Cool glass sculpture. Adelaide was a BIG step up from Perth.

The view from the back of the hostel in Adelaide where I stayed for two nights until I got a train back to here. Nice hostel, nice owners and rude, stoned German girls.
